Statement on NCAA Removal of Events From North Carolina

Duluth, GA – Below is a statement from Tim Head, Executive Director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, on the NCAA decision to remove seven championship sports events, including the first two rounds of the 2017 NCAA basketball tournament, from the state of North Carolina, over the state’s H.B. 2 law. “Once again a hypocritical and disingenuous athletic organization has chosen to punish the people of North Carolina, as well as punish the student-athletes that the NCAA is sworn to protect, because the state passed a law to protect the privacy of its citizens in bathrooms, locker rooms and shower facilities. The NCAA has joined the NBA, Paypal and the federal government in the assault on common sense, public safety and families. The NCAA claims to be an organization ‘dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of student-athletes’ but has now shown its true colors by instead dedicating itself to left-wing and special interest politics.” To speak with Tim Head, please contact Lance Lemmonds at lance@ffcoalition.com or (202) 341-8610.
