DULUTH, Ga. – This Good Friday, the Faith & Freedom Coalition released the following statement from Executive Director Timothy Head:
“This weekend, we are asked to celebrate the absurd and unbelievable: that God not only took on a human body and died, but that he was raised from the dead three days later,” said Timothy Head. “At a time when many of us are struggling just to get through another day of anxiety and isolation, celebrating at all seems impossible — and celebrating a miraculous event that occurred two thousand years ago is even harder.
“Yet God sees our fear, anger and uncertainty, and loves us in and through it all. As we find ourselves confronted with the limitations and vulnerability of living in a human body and being subject to forces and systems beyond our control, let us look to Christ,” continued Head. “Naked and bleeding on the cross, he cries out in loneliness and fear — and three days later, God raised him from the dead, conquering death and restoring us to Himself through Christ. Good Friday and Easter remind us that death is not the final word. Those of us who look to Christ and follow in his footsteps can rest assured that nothing can separate us from his love, and nothing can take away our hope of seeing him face-to-face one day. We at Faith & Freedom Coalition believe this to be true and cling to the hope that is in Jesus Christ.”
