Faith & Freedom Coalition Will Issue Key Vote On First Step Act

Washington, DC – Today, members of the U.S Senate were notified in a letter from Chairman Ralph Reed and Executive Director Tim Head that Faith & Freedom Coalition will issue a “key vote” alert to millions of faith based voters across the country on the First Step Act and will include the vote in the 115th Congressional Scorecard to be distributed nationwide in 2019. The First Step Act is expected to receive a vote in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.

“Congress has spent years talking about reforms to reduce recidivism and restore lives, it is time to act,” stated Reed and Head. “Faith & Freedom Coalition will score the vote on the First Step Act as a vote to increase public safety, reduce costs, strengthen families and change lives for the better.”

Faith & Freedom Coalition has been involved in efforts to reform the federal criminal justice for four years, and is working in conjunction with the administration of President Donald Trump and a bipartisan group of Senators and members of the U.S. House to pass the First Step Act to promote public safety and give people in prison access to the transformational programming they need to earn back the public’s trust and to return home as good spouses, parents and neighbors.

Faith & Freedom Coalition is a grassroots public policy organization with over 1.8 million members and supporters committed to pro-life and pro-family legislation, criminal justice reform, immigration reform, and education reform at the federal and state level. In 2018, Faith & Freedom volunteers knocked on 2.2 million doors of social conservative voters in key states, reached 13.4 million voters with education mail, placed over 32 million digital ads on social media platforms, and delivered 28 million emails and text messages providing voters with links to nonpartisan voter guides and mapping software that directed voters to polling locations.
