Faith & Freedom Coalition Issues Key Vote Alert On U.S. Senate Vote On Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act

Duluth, GA – The pro-life, pro-family Faith & Freedom Coalition with over 1.8 million members and supporters nationwide have issued a “key vote” alert for tonight’s U.S. Senate vote on the motion to proceed on S. 311 the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” to prohibit any health care provider from failing to properly care for a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.

The vote on the motion to proceed with S. 311 will appear in tens of millions of Congressional Scorecards and voter guides distributed in over 100,000 churches during the 2020 election.

“Babies born alive deserve the same legal and health protections as every other American, and in light of the extreme infanticidal views and legislation recently passed in New York and proposed in Virginia, it is more important than ever for the federal government to enact this legislation to protect children who are born alive in spite of an attempted abortion,” said Executive Director Tim Head. “At a time when an overwhelming majority of Americans are opposed to late-term abortions, the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act is common-sense legislation to protect the most innocent among us.”

S. 311, introduced by Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) with 49 co-sponsors, would amend Title 18 of the United States Code to provide legal personhood rights to any “infant born alive after an abortion or within a hospital, clinic, or other facility has the same claim to the protection of the law that would arise for any newborn, or for any person who comes to a hospital, clinic, or other facility for screening and treatment or otherwise becomes a patient within its care.”
