Urges Senate to Act Swiftly to Protect Patients, Strengthen Families, Reform Medicaid and Protect Unborn Life
Duluth, GA – The Faith & Freedom Coalition today formally announced its support for the Better Care Reconciliation Act in the U.S. Senate, urging Republicans to act quickly to prevent a further catastrophic unraveling of the Obamacare individual health insurance exchanges that are harming millions of patients and families.
Faith & Freedom Founder and Chairman Ralph Reed issued the following statement of support:
“The Better Care Reconciliation Act is not perfect, but it represents a giant step forward and a vast improvement over the abject failure of Obamacare. It repeals the signature features of Obamacare, including the individual and employer mandates, and is the most significant reform of a federal entitlement since welfare reform in 1996 by granting Medicaid waivers to states and promoting personal responsibility via work requirements for able-bodied beneficiaries.”
“The inclusion of a consumer freedom provision and the creation of high-risk pools will lower health insurance premiums for middle-class families. The Hyde language and defunding of Planned Parenthood protect unborn life and prevent taxpayers from being forced to subsidize the taking of innocent human life.”
“This legislation ends the previous Administration’s war on religion by protecting the right of conscience for people of faith, and for all these reasons, Faith & Freedom Coalition strongly supports the Better Care Reconciliation Act and urges Senators to act swiftly to pass it and work with the House of Representatives to get it to President Trump’s desk for his signature as soon as possible.”
“Obamacare is a lie, a betrayal of trust, and a disaster for millions of Americans. It promised lower health insurance premiums and instead has led to skyrocketing premiums and out-of-pocket costs. It promised patients they could keep their doctor and instead has severely contracted choices of doctors and health care providers. Health insurers are fleeing imploding state exchanges, leaving some consumers with no health insurance at all.”
“The Democrats created this mess but the Republicans now must fix it. The Republicans control the Senate, House, and the presidency, so they now own this issue. If they fail to act to repeal Obamacare and repair the health insurance market, they will face the wrath of voters in 2018 and the harsh verdict of history.”
