We wanted to bring to your attention an issue that you may or may not be aware of living in the greater Houston area. An issue that is a threat to our personal liberties – Houston Proposition 1. Proposition 1 is a danger to all Houstonian’s liberties and freedoms. If passed, the safety of our loved ones, children, and friends is at risk. This ordinance would allow a biological male to enter a women’s restroom and other private areas if he identifies himself as a female. It would also criminalize small business owners like bakers, florists, musicians and others who decline to participate in a same-sex ceremony due to their beliefs about marriage. The government could fine violators of the ordinance up to $5,000!
The official ballot language is below:
“Are you in favor of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, Ord. No. 2014-530, which prohibits discrimination in city employment and city services, city contracts, public accommodations, private employment, and housing based on an individual’s sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, familial status, marital status, military status, religion, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, or pregnancy?
