Trump Administration Expands Access To Health Coverage For Millions of Americans

Washington, DC – The pro-family Faith & Freedom Coalition praised the Trump administration for instituting a new Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) policy to expand access to health insurance for millions of Americans.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a new rule under President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order “Promoting Healthcare Choice and Competition Across the United States” that will allow 800,000 employers to offer HRA’s to an millions of Americans currently uninsured.

“President Trump is delivering on his promise to expand healthcare coverage and cut healthcare costs to millions of uninsured and underinsured Americans,” said Faith & Freedom Executive Director Timothy Head. “This new rule will allow employers to offer more and better healthcare options so that their employees can make the best healthcare decisions for their families.”

Beginning in January 2020, the new rule will allow employers to offer HRA coverage to their employees that include tax-preferred funds to pay for health insurance coverage in the private market.

“Millions of American workers will now be able to shop for plans in the individual health insurance market and select coverage that provides better healthcare and financial security for their families,” added Head.
