Statement from Timothy Head, Executive Director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, on Recent Accomplishments of House Republicans on the Appropriations Committee

DULUTH, Ga. — The Faith and Freedom Coalition celebrates and is encouraged by the ongoing work of House Republicans on the Appropriations Committee to keep abortion out of federal spending bills. Last week they accomplished this in three bills: The Subcommittee Markup of Fiscal Year 2024 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies bill was amended to stop the Biden Administration’s rule promoting abortion and retained language preventing federal tax dollars from funding abortion; the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration bill prohibits the FDA from continuing mail-order chemical abortions; and the FY24 Defense Appropriations bill prohibits the use of funds to facilitate abortions.

The work of Republicans on the Appropriations Committee is an essential bulwark against abortion, but this a long and winding road. We encourage all Republicans in the House and Senate to remain focused on keeping the Federal Government and American tax dollars out of the business of funding abortions.
