Statement by Ralph Reed on President Obama’s ENDA Executive Order

Faith & Freedom Coalition Chairman Ralph Reed released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s plan to impose The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) on all government contractors by Executive Order: “This is just the latest example of President Obama attempting to achieve by regulatory or executive fiat what he is unwilling or unable to achieve legislatively.  Like immigration reform, same-sex marriage, climate change and the regulation of political speech (in the case of this administration by the IRS), Obama has shown a predilection for executive action that raises the specter of an imperial presidency.  Obama could not pass ENDA in Congress, so he now seeks to impose it on the entire nation with the stroke of a pen, strangling small businesses who do work with the federal government with more regulations and threats of litigation at a time when the recovery remains soft and job creation is anemic.  This is the wrong way to impose the wrong policy at the wrong time.
