On behalf of more than 3 million members and supporters, Founder & Chairman of Faith & Freedom Coalition, Ralph Reed, and Chief Executive Officer, Mary Thomas, attended this week’s hearing held by The Religious Liberty Commission in Washington, DC and applauded the remarks and executive actions announced by President Donald J. Trump.
“I am deeply grateful to President Trump for addressing the meeting of the Religious Liberty Commission, which he created by executive order in May, at the Museum of the Bible” stated Dr. Ralph Reed, Founder & Chairman of Faith & Freedom Coalition. “The Trump Administration has already taken historic steps to defend the religious liberty of all Americans, including appointing a task force at the Department of Justice defend religious freedom, directing the Department of Education to direct school districts to protect the rights of students to engage in voluntary prayer, and pardoning pro-life Americans whose homes were raided by federal law enforcement. The Religious Liberty Commission will make findings and recommendations, and I and Faith & Freedom Coalition look forward to working with President Trump on taking additional steps to safeguard the First Amendment rights of all Americans of all faiths. I also applaud the President for launching the prayer initiative that will be part of the America 250 celebration, and we look forward to encouraging our members, supporters, and the churches and pastors with whom we work to participate.”
Faith & Freedom Coalition CEO, Mary Thomas, who also attended the meeting added, “The establishment of the Religious Liberty Commission demonstrates that, just like the membership of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, President Donald Trump is action oriented and committed to solving the problems facing everyday Americans who seek to freely practice their religious beliefs and worship God, without having to bow down to the altar of woke. We heard today from more than a half dozen children who stood up to and overcame attempts at being bullied by school administrators for simply expressing their strong Christian faith. President Trump listened to these children’s stories and took action to deliver liberty to them, their families, and their communities. As I said, President Trump is a man of action and as such he recognizes action oriented people, therefore I and all the Faith & Freedom Coalition members across America were proud to hear President Trump during his speech today call out Ralph Reed, recognizing him and the work the Faith & Freedom Coalition does fighting for our pro-family and Christian communities.”
The Religious Liberty Commission is a first-of-its-kind entity housed in the Department of Justice and designed to protect religious liberty as enshrined into federal law and by the U.S. Constitution. Comprised of 14 members appointed by the President, the commission will conduct a series of hearings throughout the United States, engaging facets of our communities where religious liberties are under threat. The Religious Liberty Commission will then present a report to President Trump including any suggested executive actions he may take.
