President Trump Nominates Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court

DULUTH, Ga. – Today, President Trump announced Amy Coney Barrett as his Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacancy left by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Faith & Freedom Coalition commends President Trump’s historic nomination of a conservative woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Judge Barrett is an extremely qualified nominee, and her profound Christian faith and constitutionalist approach would make her exactly the kind of Justice our country needs on the bench.

Barrett is a graduate of the Notre Dame Law School, where she has also taught as a law professor since 2002. She currently serves as a member of the Chicago-based Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. But more importantly, she is a devout and unashamed Catholic who is committed to protecting the lives of the unborn. Once she’s on the Supreme Court bench, she will bring conservative and faith-based principles to the court’s legal reasoning.

Contrary to what the media headlines may say, Barrett’s qualifications and character earn her bipartisan support. When she was nominated for the Court of Appeals, she received the full support of a bipartisan group of law professors. In a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee, these professors wrote, “Although we have differing perspectives on the methods and conclusions in her work, we all agree that Professor Barrett’s contributions to legal scholarship are rigorous, fair-minded, respectful, and constructive.”

If confirmed, Barrett will give the Supreme Court a 6 to 3 conservative majority.
