FL FFC Lobbies for Pro-Life Bills

The Florida Faith & Freedom Coalition held its annual Legislative Prayer Breakfast in Tallahassee with hundreds of activists from across the state in attendance.  Cosponsored by Florida Right to Life, the breakfast featured remarks by Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, Speaker of the House Will Weatherford, State Representative Dennis Baxley, State Senator Anitere Flores, and national FFC chairman Ralph Reed. Senator Marco Rubio addressed the group via video. The event highlighted FFC’s support for two pro-life bills, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act and HB 1047, which protects unborn children from abortion who can survive outside their mother’s womb, both of which were passed by the Florida House and are likely to become law.  Speaker Weatherford made clear his commitment to passing legislation that protects innocent life. “It was encouraging to see so many people, elected officials, and candidates who daily advocate for the truths upon which our nation was founded,” said Jim Kallinger, Chairman of the Florida Faith & Freedom Coalition. “Chief among them is mankind’s right to life which is why it is especially appropriate that we held our meeting in conjunction with Florida Right to Life today.” Every speaker commented on the need for people of faith to be engaged in the civic arena. Florida FFC plans to distribute via mail, voter guides, and online communication over 5 million pieces of voter education material to voters of faith in 2014. Florida FFC Board Member William Harrison said, “In America, we deserve the leaders that we get because we have the opportunity to vote. People of faith have got to register to vote and get to the polls. When we do, we can change the direction of America and put us back on solid footing.” For more information on how you can get involved in the Florida Faith & Freedom Coalition, please visit www.ffcflorida.com.
