Faith & Freedom Coalition Responds to the Case of Ahmaud Arbery

DULUTH, Ga. – On behalf of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, Executive Director Timothy Head released the following statement in the case surrounding the death of Ahmaud Arbery:

“Our prayers go out to the Arbery family for their devastating loss. We commend the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in its investigation and arrests in the death of Ahmaud Arbery and we join Georgians across the state in calling for immediate answers and actions to bring justice to this tragedy. We trust that the GBI will ensure justice is fully served and that a grand jury will be safely, but quickly convened in this case. Until all Americans can walk the streets free from fear, no American is truly free.”

Over two months ago, Arbery, just 25 years old, was jogging through a neighborhood in Brunswick, Georgia, when he was seen by a former police officer and his son. Because Arbery seemed to resemble a suspect in several nearby break-ins, the former officer decided to take matters into his own hands. Calling his son, the two men chased down Arbery in a truck. When the son got out of the truck with a shotgun, Arbery began attacking him and was shot after a struggle. District Attorney Pro Temporare Tom Durden on Tuesday issued a statement saying that a grand jury would hear Arbery’s case when the Georgia Judicial System is reopened.

The Faith & Freedom Coalition advocates for justice reform at the state and federal levels. To learn more about the Faith & Freedom Coalition, visit https://www.ffcoalition.com.
