Statement On Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

Duluth, GA – Ralph Reed, chairman of Faith & Freedom Coalition, a national pro-family organization with over 1.5 million members and supporters, issued the following statement in advance of today’s vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act”:

“Abortion stops a beating heart and ends an innocent human life. Though legalized by the Supreme Court in 1973, abortion on demand has never rested easy on the collective conscience of the American people. The desire for common-sense restrictions on abortion was one of the driving factors in the record turnout of voters of faith in 2016. I strongly urge the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act to stop the abhorrent practice of taking the life of an unborn child after the 20th week of pregnancy when medical science shows the child can feel pain. Passage of this bill by the House will lead to an almost certain recorded vote in the Senate, where many Senators on the ballot in 2018 will have to choose whether to defend the rights of unborn children who can sense pain, many of whom can survive outside the womb.”

The Faith & Freedom Coalition also announced that the vote on the “Pain-Capable Unborn Protection Act” will be a scored vote on its Congressional Scorecards and voter guides, which will be distributed to millions of people of faith door-to-door and in over 117,000 churches prior to the 2018 election.
