Faith & Freedom Coalition Applauds the Confirmation of James Trainor as Commissioner of the Federal Election Commission

DULUTH, Ga. – The over 2 million members and supporters of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, commend the Senate’s confirmation of James “Trey” Trainor III as a commissioner of the Federal Election Commission. He was confirmed last night with a vote of 49-43. Mr. Trainor is an accomplished attorney who will work with the other commissioners to ensure our nation’s elections laws are fairly administered. Mr. Trainor’s confirmation will enable the commission to perform its duties and will restore the bipartisan balance that Congress mandated when it established the FEC.

“We applaud the Senate for making the right choice to confirm Trey Trainor,” said Timothy Head, executive director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “This confirmation is crucial to restore a quorum on the commission so that it can perform its congressional mandate as we approach the federal elections this November.”

Mr. Trainor is qualified for this position as he has more than 10 years of private practice experience involving election law, campaign finance and ethics representation for government officers, interest groups, corporations and two presidential campaigns. He served as a special assistant to the Secretary of Defense in the Office of General Counsel. Trainor’s prior government service includes positions as general counsel to the Texas Secretary of State and counsel to the Texas House Committee on Regulated Industries and various other state legislative roles.
