Faith & Freedom Coalition Applauds Child Welfare Executive Order

DULUTH, Ga. – The Faith & Freedom Coalition commends the Trump administration for its recent executive order to strengthen our nation’s child welfare system. The order directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to take a number of steps to increase the safety and transparency of our foster care system and expedite the adoption process.

These steps include collecting data that will enable partnerships with non-governmental organizations and keep siblings together, increasing the number of homes for children and youth, making resources available to caregivers and youth, assessing the impact of the 1994 Multiethnic Placement Act to increase equal treatment and access for families and working to prevent unnecessary removal from foster homes.

“Scripture makes it abundantly clear that the family is the basic unit of society, yet far too many of our nation’s children grow up without the security, comfort and stability of a permanent home,” said Timothy Head, executive director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “We applaud the president for taking steps to make our foster care safer and improve the adoption process so that all children can know the transformative and healing impact of a loving home.”
