Faith & Freedom Coalition Applaud Florida For Being the First State in the Nation to Teach K-12 Child Trafficking Prevention

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The over 2 million members and supporters of the Faith & Freedom Coalition applaud the state of Florida for their efforts in fighting human trafficking. Florida is combating human trafficking by being the first state in the nation to teach K-12 child trafficking prevention. Florida passed a new rule that will mandate that school districts plan and implement this curriculum.

Florida is ranked third in the nation for reported cases of human trafficking, according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline. Hundreds of children are being sex trafficked in America, and up to 70% of sex trafficking and exploitation begins with predators engaging with youth online. The new rule in Florida requires that by December 1, each school district must submit an implementation plan to the commissioner and post the plan on the school district website.

“Florida’s efforts in fighting human trafficking is an example that other states should follow. They are addressing the need to educate in child trafficking prevention. Our nation’s children are being trafficked, and we must continue to protect them from evil predators. We hope that other states will implement this curriculum in their schools as well and that together as a nation, we will stop human trafficking,” said Executive Director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, Timothy Head.
