Press Release: Ralph Reed to Address Miami Forum, Urges Congress to Pass Pro-Family Immigration Reform

Ralph Reed |

Miami, Florida – Ralph Reed, chairman of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, will address a forum attended by pastors, religious leaders, grassroots activists, and elected officials who are coming together to urge passage of immigration reform in Congress.

“As Congress wrestles with immigration reform, it must realize that this is not only an economic and national security issue; it also is a moral issue. It reveals our character as a people and our values as a nation,” said Reed. “We believe the faith community has much to offer in the broader discussion on immigration policy.”

Regina Brown, Florida Field Director for Florida Faith & Freedom Coalition, stated, “We are a nation of immigrants that also respects the law. We know that those who seek to come to the United States do so because they believe in the same time-honored principles of faith, hard work, family, and opportunity that we do.”

Faith & Freedom Coalition has released faith-based principles as a guide to immigration reform, including strengthening the family, honoring work, respect for the law, and securing the border. The principles, which have been sent to every member of the House and Senate, can be found athttps://www.ffcoalition.com/blog/2013-02-03/statement-immigration-principles.

Reed spoke with a group of nearly two hundred pastors at the Pastor’s Association of Greater Miami meeting in Doral, Florida. He was joined at a news conference by Miami area pastors, including Dr. Alberto Delgado, president of the Association, and Mayor of the City of Doral, Luigi Boria.

“As a pastor, I see every day how our broken immigration system works against families and children. As a mayor, I witness every day how our broken immigration system causes real problems for law enforcement, employers and our schools. The time for reform is now and we are glad Florida is at the table for the debate with Senator Rubio’s leadership,” said Boria.

Reed, Boria and Delgado urged Senator Rubio to remain deeply engaged in the issue in the Senate and expressed support for his approach to immigration reform.
