Faith & Freedom Coalition Calls on Senate to Approve House-Passed Freezing of Iran Funds

Bipartisan House vote followed Coalition’s letter w/faith leaders calling on lawmakers to pass measures for Israel’s defense 

 

The Faith & Freedom Coalition is calling on the U.S. Senate to follow recent action by the House of Representatives and pass the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act (H.R. 5961) to permanently freeze $6 billion in taxpayer-subsidized funds to be given to Iran as part of the Biden administration’s hostage deal. The bill, passed in the House by a 307-119 margin last Thursday, is one of seven policy recommendations outlined in Faith & Freedom’s joint letter to Congress sent last Monday and co-signed by more than a dozen prominent U.S. faith leaders. “Faith leaders spoke, and Congress is listening,” said Faith & Freedom Coalition Chairman Ralph Reed, who expressed satisfaction with the House’s responsiveness. “We are grateful to Speaker Johnson for his leadership in support of our ally Israel and for bringing this measure to a vote quickly. The message from the American people is clear: no more money for Iran. We now expect the Senate to follow the House’s lead and pass this crucial bill without delay.”
