DULUTH, Ga. – The Faith & Freedom Coalition applauds the many churches in California for taking a stand against Governor Gavin Newsom’s hypocritical and unconstitutional ban on indoor church worship. Though Newsom claims he is acting to protect the lives of Californians, his words indicate otherwise: He has praised protestors, upholding the First Amendment right to freedom of assembly while blatantly disregarding the First Amendment right to religious freedom.
Not only are multiple churches meeting in defiance of this order, but one church network has sued Governor Newsom over it. Earlier in the month, another group of churches joined forces to sue Northam for banning singing in churches.
“The outrageous hypocrisy of the left is on full display here,” said Timothy Head, executive director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition. “Political activism on certain topics is permitted, but worship of the living God is not. We celebrate the bravery of the many Californians who are meeting in defiance of the law, and we fully support legal action to hold our leaders accountable. Religious liberty is a human right, and we send our prayers to the Californians bold enough to defend it.”
